Today, Mirela made her first keynote address, presenting her work on "Spatiotemporal surface water dynamics at subcontinental scale in a major dryland region", to The Wetlands in Drylands Research Network Conference, held at Macquaire University. In its second year, the conference has attracted numerous scientists, researchers and practice managers from around the globe to participate in panel discussions. Some of the topics include: water-geomorphological, ecological, biogeochemical and socio-cultural dynamics, sensitivity analysis, and management integration.
